What is Illustrator?
Adobe Illustrator is a vector graphics editor. Vector artwork is totally scalable (with small file sizes) and it allows you to output to any size without lost of image quality. You can use the same image for a poster or a postcard.

It is the preferred tool if you want to create logos, output to say a vinyl plotter... for making vinyl graphics and signs, for colour separations when doing spot printing, illustrations, signage, advertisements etc. Pretty much anything apart from photographic images!
